Herman Cheung is an associate lawyer and patent agent in the Life Sciences practice group at Bereskin & Parr LLP.

Herman is a highly skilled intellectual property lawyer and patent agent in the life sciences sector. As a member of B&P Life Sciences practice group, he helps a diverse range of clients – including universities, start-ups, and medium to large companies – to prepare and prosecute patent applications, develop effective intellectual property portfolios, and provide strategic counselling.

Before embarking on his legal career, Herman gained extensive scientific experience as a research associate at a hospital research center and a biochemist in a public-private partnership. He has co-authored articles published in well-regarded journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Nature Immunology, and PNAS. Herman’s scientific background and intellectual property law expertise enable him to provide valuable insights and guidance to clients seeking to protect and commercialize their innovations. He is skilled in evaluating technology and navigating complex intellectual property issues, making him a trusted advisor to a diverse range of organizations.

During his free time, Herman enjoys a range of activities. He is an avid jogger and enjoys exploring new running trails around his neighborhood. Additionally, he has a strong interest in numismatics, particularly collecting and studying the technology behind paper currency from different historical periods and regions of the world.
